Stacey Trepanier is Grateful for Historical League NHDAZ support

NHDAZ Thank You letters are the best, this one from teacher Stacey Trepanier:

I wanted to take a moment to let you know that NHD was a positive experience for both me and my students this year. I had four projects that I worked with finish in the top 20, and a junior and senior project take Best in State Awards.
I cannot thank you enough for the League's financial support in helping make this trip a reality for both me and my students. I have attached some pictures of our time in DC!
Thank you again. Stacey Trepanier

Our senior Best in State 1st Place winners were Sunmit Hallur, Michael Makhoul, and Esteban Pierrend for their Senior Group Documentary on Ella Baker: A Pioneer of Grassroots Movements. Their documentary will be featured at the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMMAHC) on June 14th with 15 other documentaries.

National History Day AZ student Thanvi Voruganti is Junior Best in State Winner for documentary

Teacher Stacey Trepanier writes, "Our junior National History Day Best in State Winner was Thanvi for her individual documentary Vietnam: New Frontiers in Media Coverage."
Another way to express it is she is also 20th in the World for individual documentary.

When asked what does NHD mean to you?, Thanvi replied:
"The National History Day process has helped improve my technological ability, my writing skills, and ultimately help me find my voice. New perspectives and experiences have also helped me assess my personal opinions and ultimately embrace history as a tool to help make future decisions. Overall, NHD was a highly enjoyable procedure and truly benefitted me in many ways. "

The Historical League is proud to help sponsor these students in NHDAZ.

NHDAZ students send Thank You letters

Thank you letters from NHDAZ students are coming in. They are heartfelt:

Good day,

My name is Kim Zuleim Pineda-Uribe, my NHD project was a senior website - "The Internet: A Virtual Web of Communication Across the Informational Frontier."  I would like to thank the Historical League for the opportunity of financial aid in order to partake in National History Day.  The most rewarding part of competing in NHD is the over all experience and opportunity to need several people for around the states, as well as several other countries.  Despite not winning at nationals, my team and I still succeeded with making to there in the first place.  This trip was full of many learning opportunities such as, how to better our research, analyze historical documents, and over all how to better communicate.

Once again thank you for this opportunity and your time,

Kim Zuleim Pineda-Uribe

Another Thank You from NHDAZ student Raven Burrell, Chandler, AZ:
Thank You for the wonderful opportunity that you provided us to get to the NHD competition! It was exciting! We got to tour the Capital, meet Senator Kelly, visit the Monuments, Library of Congress, African American Museum, Smithsonian, Georgetown University and meet wonderful kids from all over the country and other countries. We walked over 113 thousand steps. I enjoyed sharing this experience with my classmates and some new friends that we met from other schools in Arizona. We really appreciate you helping us with the travel expenses.
Thank You,
Raven Jordan Burrell

Juneteeth at AZHC described by AHS Todd Bailey

Todd Bailey, Special Projects Co-ordinator at AZHC, describes Juneteeth on his facebook page,

"I was in the presence of amazing people today. Artists, Educators, colleagues, friends, and members of the greater Phoenix area, and even several Tucsonians. Putting together AHC’S Juneteenth Celebration was a GIFT to me. To work with so many amazing people and have so many noble and fine black folks in the room… was exactly what my diabolical little brain was constructing. I hope you didn’t miss it! 604 people came to enjoy the day with us and celebrated freedom and the discussion of freedom going forward. Thank you for all you Dr Josephine Pete, a member of the ASU Class of 1960. Dr Pete and her classmates went to the legislature that year and demanded that they make the “Tempe Normal School” into a full fledged UNIVERSITY! #therestishistory also, the incredibly talented, charming and handsome @bruce_the_violinist aka Bruce Kirkwood….. soother all our souls with violin like you have never heard before. I am still amazed that I actually booked him. What an incredible day!"

♥️🤘🏾😎🌵🏜️

And the Historical league is so happy to have Dr. Josephine Pete as a member!!

National History Day AZ student Aryasp Nejat website from 2016 is timeless.

NHDAZ is an amazing program and Aryasp Nejat created a beautiful tribute through this website to WWII Lt. Cecil Corley. This is a wonderful presentation and one of the many reasons the Historical League supports National History Day AZ. Thank you for sharing this.

NHDAZ teacher and co-ordinator Stacey Trepanier went with a group of NHD students to Normandy in 2016. She posted these words today from Aryasp Nejat: 79 years ago, they fought for the beaches. He was but one of the many. Sharing Lt. Cecil Corley's story and honoring his sacrifice is my privilege. 62227043.nhd.weebly.com Thank you, NHD, for the privilege and opportunity.

You may remember Aryasp. He is the same student who spoke before the Historical League at the David Wright House "Evening Under the Stars" during the fundraiser for NHD in 2016.
