"Grateful Gathering" Friday, April 22 celebrated the Historical League's 40th Anniversary and the refreshed, enhanced Historymakers Hall at Arizona Heritage Center at Papago Park.

Postponed by Covid-19, the event finally happened. Susan Dale stayed on as President for an unprecedented two years working towards the goals.

Special Thanks to Linda Corderman and her committee who volunteered countless hours towards the new enhanced Historymakers Hall.

Thanks to all those involved in the evenings events.

Wickenburg Historic Tour

Thanks to organizers Mary and John Garbaciak, the bus to Wickenburg was full, lunch at Rancho de los Caballeros was delicious and everyone came home with lots of interesting history of mining in the area. Stops included Vulture City Mine and exhibits at the Western Museum.

The first thing the Wickenburg miners saw coming out of the mines was this building. Note the sign "DOCTOR". He was mostly for injuries. The middle of the building was for food. A miner had 20-minute shifts to eat! And then the "BROTHEL". Some women/girls were 13 and 14 years old.
Historical League tours are educational events bringing us together to experience the past.

Mary Garbaciak comments, "The person in the picture with me is Richard “Dick” Fredrickson, the Resident Naturalist, at Rancho de los Caballeros.  He has been with 2 owners for the past 39 years. His knowledge of the Ranch’s history and surrounding area was most interesting. He spoke to our group during a fabulous lunch." He was presented with a copy of AZ Recollections and Reflections as Thank You.
