AZ History Convention reception at AZ Heritage Center

Norma Jean Coulter and Julie Moore visit with Lew Armer
It was an enjoyable time April 27, celebrating the AZ History Convention with an evening reception at AZ Heritage Center. Strolling through exhibits, visits with old friends, good food from Dancing Chef and Tastes & Treasures II cookbook on display. Norma Jean Coulter and Julie Moore did a great job talking about and selling cookbooks.

Les Roe was happy to see the Historymaker display he created 15 + years ago is still functioning well and versatile.
Ruth McLeod and Pam Stevenson reminisce with Les about past exhibits he designed.

Monthly lunches and meetings

It's not all serious meetings with the Historical League. We start off with discussions and enjoy hearing the report from museum director, Tawn Downs. She is filled with enthusiasm and ideas so it is great to hear how the attendance has increased, facilities rentals have improved, exhibits are being built and even the gift shop is doing well.
Meetings are followed by a delicious lunch from Dancing Chef. The couscous with black beans was very tasty and those look like Terri's All-American Brownies with the strawberries and blackberries. The recipe can be found in Tastes & Treasures II, A Storytelling Cookbook of Historic Arizona. Available at HistoricalLeague.org/SHOP.aspx

Staff Appreciation Luncheon

Catered by our newest addition to the AHS Museum, Dancing Chef Mark Vanek, the staff enjoyed a lovely luncheon and were very grateful to be recognized.

Karen Swanson attended as the Historical League representative taking these photos and commenting, "They are all very passionate and proud of the museum."

She also reported that, "Mark added several extra dishes 'because that is what Chefs do'.  So the staff were treated well with lots of food.  Included on the buffet: 2 different wraps (Tuna & Vegetarian), tortellini soup, lettuce boats w/pinto bean hummus, mozzarella salad w/tomatoes, chips, dessert tray, a Carrot Cake and Prickly Pear Juice and Raspberry Lemonade."
