Historymakers Gala chairs meeting

A Meeting of the Minds . . . this awesome group of ladies has chaired the Historymakers Gala and Recognition Program starting in 1992 with first chair Marilyn Parke. It is a privilege and honor to be included in this group. It takes hard work, dedication and passion but the Historymakers program is so very worthwhile.

Tasting Party for Tastes & Treasures Vol II recipes

Lee Rogers, Carolyn Mendoza, Delores Tomasek, Hostess Mary Parker,
Leslie Christiansen, Linda Corderman
Mary Parker's home was a perfect venue with good friends and fine wines, tasting recipes for the Historical League's new cookbook, Tastes & Treasures, A Storytelling Cookbook of Historic Arizona Volume II. Tasting Parties are a wonderful way to critique the recipe for flavor, presentation, ingredients and helpful hints on how to make it. The Evaluation Sheets get filled up with suggestions and comments. The excitement for Volume II is building with these historic venues and their foods.

Hubbell Trading Post, Ganado, AZ

Walking through Hubbell Trading Post on the last day of our bus tour was like walking back in time. Native Americans still come to trade with their rugs, jewelry and intricately painted pots. They take home flour, sugar, canned goods and all the other treasures found in the Trading Post. Centered in the middle of the main room is the pot belly stove. Nancy Knight enjoys the warmth of it. Think of the stories it could tell . . .

Navajo Code Talker Museum in Tuba City

The Navajo Code Talker Museum in Tuba City tells the story in pictures, displays, artifacts and video of the Code Talkers. It was fascinating to learn the Code after remaining secret from the public until the 1960's.
