Celebrating a year of history, support of the Arizona Heritage Center and friendship: that's our Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon. Awards are handed out and the new Board of Directors for 2024-2025 is welcomed. Along with a delicious lunch, it was a lovely event! Held at Seasons 52 this year.

Day at the Museum for NHDAZ students
Smiles greeted the NHDAZ students during Day at the Museum. Historical League members Cathy Shumard, Chris Hackett, Anne Lupica, Pam Den Draak had fun handing out SWAG: cowboy hats, pins, hoodies, AZ flags and more on Saturday, May 4 at Museum of the West. The students will stand out in the crowds in June at University of Maryland.

National History Day AZ State Competition at ASU
Volunteering for NHDAZ state competition was fun and inspiring. The League is proud to support National History Day AZ students and teachers with funding as well as volunteering. 158 excited students competed!
Presentation for NHDAZ were educational, well researched and varied. Kudos to all the students participating in State Competition. Dr. Kristen Rex is a driving force for National History Day AZ.

WNPA re-orders Tastes & Treasures II again
During the Historical League bus tour of SE Arizona, we stopped in to show them Tastes and Treasures II: A Storytelling Cookbook of Historic Arizona. Western National Parks Association has re-ordered several times since that initial visit in May 2018. They have a large number of venues all over Arizona, including Tumacacori and Saguaro in Tucson.Enjoy our National Parks and don't forget to browse the books in their gift shops!

Makers and Bakers at Encanto Park
Historical League member Christine Hackett will be in our booth. She was a hit when she prepared Lakin’s Chili con Queso dip, page 188 of Tastes & Treasures II, for a recent party.
Made and delivered in her crockpot, there were no leftovers to bring home. The reaction, “This is Y-U-M-M-Y!”
