Winners of annual 3rd grade postcard contest announced

Congrats to our 21 Finalists for the 2026 Postcard Contest! Dr. Kristen Rex announced them. Historical League is a proud supporter of this program.

A big thank you to all the students and teachers who participated! These talented young artists were selected for their outstanding creativity and thoughtful designs celebrating Arizona's history and the 5 C's.

Please note: The winners will be announced on Friday once all votes have been finalized!

Prizes:

- A hosted Pizza Party (courtesy of the Historical League)

- A swag bag filled with art supplies and Arizona Historical Society goodies

- Their winning design is professionally printed on postcards available for purchase at any Arizona Historical Society Museum.

The 21 finalist designs were proudly showcased at both the Arizona History Museum and the Arizona Heritage Center for Statehood Day on Saturday, February 14. Visitors had the opportunity to view the artwork and cast their votes for their favorite.

In addition to public voting, judging panels from the Tempe Historical League, the Arizona Historical Society, and the K12 Coalition carefully reviewed each finalist submission.

Thank you again for all the participating students, teachers, families, and community partners who made this year's contest such a success. We look forward to announcing the winners soon! Here are some of the designs.

3rd Grade Postcard Contest 2026

 Calling all Arizona 3rd grade teachers, it's time to kickoff our 4th annual Postcard Contest!

Our annual postcard contest is open to 3rd graders across Arizona! Submissions should creatively celebrate Arizona through the 5 Cs, historical events, landscapes, people, or animals. All work must be hand-drawn and include the AHS copper “Bug”, the X symbol in our logo. See contest rules for more information and submission details on our website. One submission per classroom will be considered. Must be postmarked by January 30, 2026.

Postcard winner Skyler James tells us about her artwork

Congrats to Skyler James, the latest 3rd grader to celebrate her win of the Arizona Postcard Contest. Along with her family, her teacher and classroom, they all enjoyed a pizza party and fun swag. We are appreciative of her creative artwork which has been made into postcards and can be found at AHS museums.

Paisley Ann Walker wins 3rd grade postcard contest

 Paisley Ann Walker celebrated with her art teacher, extra Mom, classmates and her Great Grandmother at her pizza party!

Many students are learning about Arizona history through this 3rd grarde postcard contest. And AHS Dr. Kristen Rex is making it fun for everyone. The Historical League is proud to support this program.

 Don't forget about the AHS Annual Postcard Contest coming up! We are inviting all 3rd graders in the State of Arizona to participate. Get creative and be sure to submit your postcard by February 2, 2024.
