June 2022 Historical League meeting

We end the year on a high note introducing the new Board with Advisor Susan Dale administering the oath of office. President Claire Nullmeyer turned over the gavel to incoming President Chris Hackett.

Tastes & Treasures I and II were the inspiration for the food served. Prescott's The Palace Bar Corn Chowder page 92-93 Volume II was popular. From Volume I, pages 96 and 97, Lon's Roasted Chicken and Strawberry Salad was given a new and inviting presentation. Almond Macaroons from page 97 were a hit for dessert. Thanks to Mary McMahon and Pat Christopherson for organizing the luncheon. Also Sergio and Randy for preparing the delicious meal.

Vacation was the theme for our June meeting. Thanks to Sandy Loeffler for her Summertime centerpieces celebrating beach, tall pines, and European travels.

March Historical League meeting with lunch in Desert Cities Exhibit

The March meeting in the Steele Auditorium brought us together for updates and good news. President Claire Nullmeyer directed us through committee reports, upcoming events, finances and AZ Heritage Center progress.

Social hour before our luncheon (with recipes from Tastes & Treasures II - El Tovar) was in the Desert Cities Exhibit. It's always fun to explore the museum!

Tour of Chuhily Exhibit at Desert Botanical Gardens

President Claire Nullmeyer reports on yesterday's Chihuly exhibit tour at DBG, "Upon arrival at the Garden, League members scattered like quail and could be spotted from afar. Bob and I viewed the exhibit with Anne Lupica and Mariamne Moore. It was a delightful evening and I had a great time visiting the wonderful gift shop where I bought a calendar and silk scarf!"

Fabulous photos courtesy of Katie Tovar and Claire Nullmeyer.
