Successful Children's Holiday Party

Karen Swanson has never seen a talking Christmas tree before! She likes his shoes.

Kassie Walters invited the Snowman, Elf, Christmas Tree and Gingerbread man to pose with Santa.

Co-Chair and Elf Bonnie Newhoff
The 30th Annual Children's Holiday Party was enjoyed by all. Held Saturday, December 15 at Arizona Biltmore Resort, adults and children were entertained before, during and after the fabulous luncheon. Thanks to the hard work of the chairs: Bonnie Newhoff, Nina Filippi, Nancy Evans and Mary Parker for continuing this Historical League tradition.

Membership Open House Event

More than 75 people attended the Historical League Open House at the Craftsman-style Hearn Home on Northern Ave in Phoenix. The "Before" and "After" remodeling photos told a great story.

Children's Holiday Party co-chair Kassie Walters "candy caned"
some new members to tell them about the fabulous event at the Arizona Biltmore Resort on Saturday, Dec 17.

Co-Editors of Arizona Recollections and Reflections, Joan Robinson and Zona Lorig, sat with Leslie Christiansen and guest Meg Knopf. League members are excited about the response to our new Centennial book featuring stories and photos of Historymakers and timelines of early Arizona.

San Antonio tour

Mary Parker writes about the whirlwind Historical League tour to San Antonio, Texas. "We saw the IMax movie about the Alamo the first night. The next day we went on a cruise of the river along the Riverwalk, then a trolley picked us to tour some beautiful old houses in the King William district (Kaiser Wilhelm which had to be changed during WWI), lunch at a wonderful Mexican restaurant, then we trolleyed to some missions which lined up south of San Antonio, & then we were dropped off at the Alamo for wandering around on our own.

Jeannine & I stayed for a 20 minute video, which went into the history of Texas a little more than the first night. There is a nice museum at the Alamo & the chapel is beautiful.

We even had a gazoo band entertain us, thanks to Kassie Walters, Linda Fritsch, Terri Mainwaring & Lindy Isacksen! :o))"
