Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there.
One special lady that was a mother to all Historical League members was Joan Muckenthaler. Although she did not have children, she nurtured many of us in the Historical League.
We devoted a page to her in Tastes & Treasures II with her story and Exotic Chicken Salad recipe, which we enjoyed at the May 6 League meeting.

Women's Hall of Fame Induction May 1, 2019

Women's Hall of Fame was an inspirational event, guided by Historical League members Zona Lorig and Norma Jean Coulter who are on the board.
Many other League members volunteered with check in, set up, table decorations, greetings, Tastes & Treasures book sales. We have wonderful workers in our organization.
Women's Hall of Fame quilts show each honoree.
The Living Legacy honorees are amazing women: Shelley Cohn, Sharon Harper, Cindy Hensley McCain, The Honorable Barbara Rodriquez Mundell. The Legacy honorees had incredible stories: Emma Lee French (1836-1897), Kate Thompson Cory (1861-1958), Guadalupe Huerta (1920-2000), Rose Lyons McKay (1881-1934).
It was wonderful having the Cactus Pine Girl Scouts be the honor guards as well as Emcee Mary Jo West doing a great job.

Volunteers helping at the event are
Seated Anne Lupica, Judy Blackwell, Mary McMahon, Julie Moore, Jan Murray, Clede Gorrell
Standing: Ruth McLeod, Norma Jean Coulter, Zona Lorig, Cathy Shumard, Mary Parker.
Not pictured Janet Weiss, Patt Walker, Margaret Baker, Susan Dale, Laurie Sue Retts, Pam Stevenson.

More re-orders for Tastes & Treasures II

After re-ordering 6 times, Write Ons definitely knows Tastes & Treasures II. Joan Andrews takes a box of books for the store from Ruth McLeod. Great customer service and unique merchandise makes this store on 7th St and Rose Lane a fun place to shop.

Lons at Hermosa Inn has also re-ordered many times. Thanks to Patt Walker for delivering more books to Pam Swartz at Hermosa Inn. Note their distinctive door is on the cover of Tastes & Treasures II . . . definitely a SW Arizona look.

More re-orders for Tastes & Treasures II. Stop by El Chorro for a book and fabulous lunch or dinner. Katie Roberts receives boxes of books from Linda Corderman.

Makers and Bakers at Encanto Park

It's always fun to talk about Arizona history and Tastes & Treasures II at events. Stop by and say hello tomorrow at Encanto Park. noon - 5 pm.
Historical League member Christine Hackett will be in our booth. She was a hit when she prepared Lakin’s Chili con Queso dip, page 188 of Tastes & Treasures II, for a recent party.
Made and delivered in her crockpot, there were no leftovers to bring home. The reaction, “This is Y-U-M-M-Y!”
