1999 Historymaker Newton Rosenzweig continues to do good works.

Honored in 1999 as a Historymaker, Newton Rosenzweig was recognized as a business and civic leader. We are pleased to see that the Rosenzweigs continue to improve the lives of Arizonans.

Successful Holiday event at Newsies

Thanks to Chairs Mary Parker, Bonnie Newhoff, Nancy Evans and Dianne Linthicum, the Family Holiday Party at Phoenix Theatre was a big hit this year. Held on Saturday, December 9, the theatre was full of excitement, holiday cheer and beautiful decorations.
Chair Nancy Evans commented, "The Silent Auction sold 8 trips! The Winspire trips included:  2 trips to Charleston, SC,  4 trips to Nashville, TN, 1 trip Masters Golf practice round Augusta, Ga., and 1 trip to New Orleans, LA. The reception was unbelievable with its assortments of sweets and savory plus cheeses. The raffle had high quality items. The Newsie play was outstanding!"

Editing Tastes & Treasures II Cookbook

Now that we have Tastes & Treasures in a draft copy, we are ready to edit. Cathy Shumard prepared a delicious lunch so we could work through the day at her home. Co-chairs Cathy, Linda Corderman, Leslie Christiansen and Ruth McLeod were eager and willing to proof read!

Unique visitor to AZ Heritage Center at Papago Park

Wonder what interests this little guy at the entrance to the AZ Heritage Center at Papago Park? Lots of interesting wildlife live in the riparian area next to the museum. This roadrunner fascinating us all. Mariamne Moore tried to get "up close and personal" but he would have nothing to do with her on a sunny November day.
 AZ Heritage Center director Tawn Downs comments, "He is a regular. He has a little limp, which makes him even more adorable."

Susan Dale is now the Public Relations chair for the Historical League and has already made major strides. Getting involved and learning more, she signed up with Ruth McLeod for a Leadership Seminar. As the class introduced themselves, Ruth spoke of Tastes & Treasures II, the history of Arizona, and AZ Heritage Center at Papago Park. Two people approached her after the class to ask how to get the new book!
