Bonnie Newhoff commented about the interesting presentation at the October meeting. "Our speaker at the October meeting, Lauren McArthur Harris, is a history professor at ASU. She talked about teaching history to today’s students and about the importance of the National History Day competition."

New Member Orientation and Tour: A great time to welcome fellow history lovers.
Claire commented, "It was a fun morning with our new members on tour through the Heritage Center. Lots of questions and individual memories shared. Laurie Sue gave a concise overview of the League’s work, play and education opportunities accompanied by Lynn Wood’s wonderful pumpkin spice cake! Rumor has it Lynn's cake was worth the price of admission!

CINDERELLA tickets are here! Join us at the Phoenix Theatre on Sunday, December 11, 2022 for a reception and matinee performance of the timeless classic, Cinderella, by Rodgers and Hammerstein. The show was nominated for nine Tony Awards, featuring a new cast of characters and some new songs.
The Historical League reception offers complimentary light refreshments, a no-host bar, a raffle for children, a wine raffle and more! Festivities begin at 11:30 am in the theater’s beautiful upstairs space of the Mezzanine Terrace, and the show starts in the main theater at 1:30 pm.
Chandler Museum tour was filled with history and 'behind the scenes' visits. Thanks for Lynn Woods for organizing this. Thanks to Bonnie Newhoff for great pictures.
The tour brought to life the Dust Bowl in Chandler, AZ. Bonnie Newhoff comments, "We learned some fascinating history of Chandler. The handsome guy in the old black and white photo is Dr Alexander Chandler himself. He was a veterinarian but more interested in real estate. The oil over the fireplace next to Pat Faur is him in his nineties."
Lunch at the Olive Garden afterwards was delicious and a wonderful time to socialize.
Good friends, Good food, Good volunteering. Hugs, smiles, laughter . . . our group does a lot of volunteering but also has a lot of fun. Getting together at the September 12 meeting after a long summer is so rewarding. President Chris Hackett welcomed League members back while Mary MacMahon and Lynn Wood signed up members for tours. The AZ Heritage Center looks good and we are ready for a wonderful year with so many activities planned. Thanks to Bonnie Newhoff for taking great photos.
The September 12 meeting kicks off the year at AZ Heritage Center. AHS Debbie McKinion spoke at the September League business meeting updating us.
