We are delighted to have AZ12News spreading the word about the Arizona Historical Society 5th Annual Postcard Contest for 3rd graders.
Caribe Devine anchors the 5, 6, 7, and 10 p.m. newscasts on weeknights at 12News alongside co-anchor Mark Curtis. With a warm yet authoritative presence, Caribe delivers the day’s top stories, breaking news, weather updates, and features that celebrate the unique spirit of Arizona.
Her career in TV news began in an unconventional way, as a receptionist at KFOX-TV in El Paso during college. Witnessing newsroom energy during events like 9/11 and monsoon storms inspired her to move behind the scenes as a weather producer, eventually earning her first on-air weather reporting opportunities. Caribe’s background includes roles as a weather anchor and reporter at KFOX-TV and KTSM in El Paso before joining 12 News in Phoenix, where she served as a meteorologist from 2005 to 2017 before transitioning to news anchor.
Caribe holds an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Certification in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. Throughout her career, she has earned multiple Emmy Awards, an Edward R. Murrow Award, and an Associated Press “Best Anchor” recognition. Notably, her coverage of the 2018 violent riots at a President Trump rally in downtown Phoenix earned her national acclaim, including an Emmy nomination.
Deeply connected to Arizona, Caribe embraces the state’s breathtaking desert landscapes, from the red rocks of Sedona to the Ponderosa pines, and the warmth of its community. Born in Texas but a proud Arizonan at heart, she cherishes raising her two daughters here.
A former band geek, Caribe was drum major in high school and played clarinet in the UTEP marching band. When not anchoring, she enjoys hiking Arizona’s scenic trails, exploring the Valley’s vibrant restaurant scene, reading, working out, and spending quality time with her daughters.
