National Pie Day was Monday, Jan. 23. Did you get your pie?
Rock Springs Cafe was shown on Fox News as THE place for pie in the Phoenix area. This historic venue was also featured in Tastes & Treasures II with the recipe for Apple pie page 106 and Mixed Berry pie page 105. YUMMM!
Talking Trash: that's what 29 members and guests did on the tour of City of Phoenix trash facility. Thanks to Lynn Wood for organizing this tour with our guide Alicia Flores, who entertained us with stories. She educated us about the handling and process of recycling, separation of trash, distribution to their landfills. Also about the usage and resale of recycled recovery items as well as compost and paper shredded bundles.
The official name is North Gateway Transfer Station and Materials Recovery Facility on 30205 N. Black Canyon Hwy in Phoenix.
After the tour was lunch. Lynn Wood reflected, "Our luncheon gathering at Salt Taco Y Tequilla (Shops at Norterra) was a fun gathering and food was delicious."

We were thoroughly entertained by our guest speaker at the January meeting. After an introduction from Pat Grogg, Jan shared stories from her book "Arizona Women who Made History". Fascinating!

After 30 years of decorating for our events, Nancy Evans continues to embellish all things Historical League. And we are so-o-o grateful for her talent and dedication!!
She hasn't changed much as these photos show with daughter Jennifer and granddaughter Reagan at Children's Holiday Party (circa 2003) and at Family Holiday Party (December 2022) with Jennifer and husband Stan at the "Cinderella" event . . . which, of course, she decorated.
